How to Participate in the Buy Local Challenge
Anyone can take the pledge and buy local during Buy Local Week (last full week in July). But there are many other ways that you, your family, your business and the organizations you belong to can participate by spreading the word and encouraging others to take the challenge.
Take the pledge and encourage friends and co-workers to do the same. Ask your favorite restaurant to participate.Post the BLC logo on your Web site, blog, Facebook or MySpace page. Join the Facebook BLC group and invite your online friends.
Restaurants and Stores
Showcase dishes made from local foods in your Buy Local Week menu, or create a display featuring local produce in your market. Post the BLC logo on your Web site and in your newsletters, signs and advertising. Display or distribute the BLC fliers and posters. You can use the tools in the Online Community to create and promote your own group and event.
Hospitals, Businesses, Universities, Clubs and Organizations
Encourage your members or staff to take the challenge and be counted! Make a special effort to feature local foods in your cafeteria. Post the BLC logo on your Web site and in your newsletters, signs and advertising. Display or distribute the BLC fliers and posters. You can use the tools in the Online Community to create and promote your own group and event.
Kids can join in too. For great family farm entertainment, food and fun visit Cornelia and her veggie friends at www.letsgotoafarm.com.
